ANDREWS CHRISTMAS AND SMUG CHRISTMAS PARTY No. 11

"A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TOO"
Today was the Annual Christmas celebration for the residents of Andrews of Stratford and SMUG was invited to play for their entertainment. SMUG enjoyed a gathering following the performance with a touch of liquid refreshment and sandwiches by Terry, topped with his delicious cookies, to have our own Christmas Celebration together for the 11th year. A fine finish for the SMUG year as we are now set free until the first Saturday in January, and today will be our last performance of 2018.

Our thanks to Sharon for getting this all together for us and being not  only a wonderful hostess but also the great photographer during the event. It's not often we are fortunate enough to have so many PHOTOS and I published most of them. My most sincere thanks to all members of SMUG for their Christmas Kindness to me once again, AS WELL AS YOUR THOUGHTFUL NOTES ON THE CHRISTMAS CARD.  I couldn't finish this paragraph without mentioning President Maurice's kind words and meaningful poem, and the the great song written for the occasion by Cousin Leah, "Oh David C", which will be framed and long remembered. I just wish I could get you all to learn our Birthday Song sometime and believe we need to spend a Saturday morning getting it under our belts. Which reminds me, Nicole had a birthday this week and we neglected to serenade her today...Happy Belated Nicole. We have several birthdays between now and the first of January and hope we will be able to cover them all on January 5th.

OUR CHRISTMAS "JAM" AT FIRST BAPTIST

Here we all are , our 9th appearance at the First Baptist Church Christmas Community Dinner, and to a packed house of appreciative people who were served a wonderful Turkey dinner with all of the trimmings anticipated. SMUG were at their finest as we,for the first time in 9 years managed to get through our whole program. As you can see from the photos we all also enjoyed our own meals while we were serenaded by some violin Christmas selections, a special treat for us all. Our thanks to Kathy and Pastor Dave for their hospitality and kind invitation.

WINESING DOES OKTOBERFEST AT ANDREWS OF STRATFORD

SHARON,     ANN,     MARY,     MOLLY,     DAVID ,     MAURICE

A wonderful afternoon today at Andrews of Stratford  as the residents celebrated Oktoberfest in traditional fashion. We saw in the distance some German Beer, some German Wine and Some Stratford Cookies. WineSing once again performed for the residents and they seemed to enjoy the afternoon celebrations and the Oktoberfest music provided as they sang and clapped their hearts out. Ann thought we might be invited back again sometime.

A good time was had by all and on behalf of WineSing let's all give big thanks to Sharon for making it happen and joining up with WineSing once again. What a great sport!

2018 10th Annual SMUG Summer Picnic

Well, we did it. We had a summer picnic after all, with a bit of Gospel music added for flair. Our original date of July 21st had to be cancelled so Aug 4th was the accepted date but because of at least 13 cancellations we ended cancelling that too. As a result we planned a Gospel Hour at Hillsboro on their back lawn and brought in some Pizza for lunch( which wasn't quite enough, I'm afraid)(But we're learning) Last year we had two pizza's left over. We had 29 of our group not able to make the morning today, but those of us that did make it had fun and a very warm taste of picnic air under the trees at Hillsboro. The rain held off but the weather was very humid. The thought of having a fall picnic when we return in the fall could become a possibility......a good thing to do, but when it is a bit cooler maybe. As I am writing this the sun has come out and there is blue sky everywhere. Thanks to you all who were able to make it this morning.... a good time was had by all.
