PRINCE OF WALES CANADA 150 ALUMNI REUNION

Well, after all the effort we put into this performance today, the photographer forgot to take any photos. How unforgiving is that? However, Janet's relatives were there and took this short video which I hope will soothe the wounds. If any of you have access to any more videos or photos I would be glad to add them here.

This was a special Prince of Wales Alumni Canada 150 reunion that SMUG was asked to participate in, along with several members of the alumni as well as faculty. We had readers from or representing the decades of the 20's,(Barbara Worth MacNevin) 30's,(Diane Bennett Campbell) 40's,(Dr. Lawson Drake) 50's (Dr. David G.Stewart) and the 60's. (Margaret Knox) . Alan Buchanan did a great job as MC for the afternoon. Alumni President John Andrews welcomed the guests following a UPEI luncheon, and a Holland College reception and Barbara MacNutt from the Reunion Committee offered thanks to the participants on closing. Following the performance many of the group assembled ambled over to Montgomery Hall where a Vimy tree was planted on the property.

UKULELE FRENZY. PEI'S NEWEST UKULELE SEPTET MADE ON CANADA 150

A new ukulele group was born on Canada Day 150. While I think they should become UKULELE CANADA 150, they are instead UKULELE FRENZY, and that's all right too. Today they did their first performance at the Canada Day 150 Tea Hill Park event and stole the show. Wonderful singing, and wonderful music behind the singing.The group of seven (which is a familiar description) blend extremely well and I know they will become popular in days to come.It was great to see all of their leader's family participating in the background. The group consists of Kelly Galloway, Nicole Phillips, Lindsay Gillis, Jade Bulger, Martin Caird, Darlene and Bob Acorn. SMUG wish yet another PEI ukulele group well as they will no doubt branch into another area of participating and enriching the lives of Islanders with a mixture of music from another genre. Congratulations to the seven of you.

Trinity United Church's ANNUAL HOMECOMING SERVICE

Today was the third year that The Andrew's Strummers have been invited to participate in Trinity United Church's Annual Homecoming Service. On a beautiful Monday morning The Reverend Greg Davies and The Reverend Cathie Crooks along with Organist and Choir Director Donald Fraser put together a wonderful program topped off by a most interesting meditation by Reverend Cathie. Communion was served at the close of the service to all that gathered and The Strummers performed a total of 9 songs for the pleasure of all who came to participate. Following the service a wonderful lunch was provided to everyone. Just a another magnificent experience in the life of Andrew's Strummers. Our thanks to Trinity for inviting us once again.

2016/2017 ANNUAL ART SHOW AT ANDREWS OF STRATFORD

THE ANDREWS OF STRATFORD ARTISTS WERE PROUDLY DISPLAYING THEIR 2016/2017 PAINTINGS TODAY, AT A WINE AND CHEESE RECEPTION HELD IN THE ACTIVITY ROOM. MANY RESIDENTS CAME OUT TO ENJOY THE SPECTACLE AND CONGRATULATE THE ARTISTS FOR THEIR WONDERFUL EFFORT DURING THE PAST MONTHS. CLASSES ARE TWICE MONTHLY FROM OCTOBER UNTIL JUNE.+

A RETURN TO ANDREWS AFTER A LONG LAYOFF

What a great turnout of both SMUGGERS and Andrew's Residents as we did a Spring Program the first time we have been to Andrews for well over a year. We did TipToe Through the Tulips, many old fashioned waltzes, a couple of Gospel and many,many selections from the 50's and 60's.Sharon, Andrew's activity director, joined us for more than half of our performance after she took most of the photos you see here. She also passed around a great lunch which was very satisfying as we finished up the afternoon performance.It has always been a great time for all any time SMUG has performed at Andrews.
